Christmas time turned into nerd time

I spent the break learning how to use Notion and ChatGPT in a way that’s actually productive and efficient. Less tool tourism, more getting things done.

I wanted a new notes setup. For years it was only OneNote. That still stays, mainly for handwritten notes. The new part is Notion for long-term knowledge. Which means migration. Slowly. On purpose.

I learned by doing. Started simple with recipes. Then things escalated a bit. First I went full nerd on tyre pressure for Amadeus, Grisu, Kartoffelbrei and Precious (yes, my bikes have names). Then I started documenting the specs of my trusted companions. For maintenance products and wear parts, I’ve already built an inventory — including all the Dynamic Bike Care stuff I keep recommending to everyone. Honestly, they should be paying me, not the other way around 🚲😉 I might also play around with the insurance side of things next. Crazy idea, huh. Might have something to do with my job.

To keep all of this manageable: ChatGPT, ftw. I throw in messy, unstructured data. What comes back is clean, structured data that fits neatly into the Notion databases I defined. Naturally with a bit of help from that great digital mate.

And speaking of data: have you ever tried to compare three cars from three different listings? Absolute nightmare. Here, too, AI is a real game changer. Unstructured chaos in, clear comparison out. Turns out all three cars had the same equipment and only differed in price, colour, and dealer. No way I’d have done that properly by hand. Fair dinkum. More on that journey soon.
