Layer 8 Meets the Corporate Password Policy

Maybe it’s a layer 8 problem – but I keep managing to lock myself out of systems that require manual password entry.

And yes, I do know my password. I just suck at typing it in.

Today it was my corporate Windows account again. Either I have to call the IT helpdesk now – or wait half an hour. Honestly, I think I need a permanent hotline.

Typing complex passwords flawlessly is definitely not one of my core skills. I’d probably get “Test123” right on the first try… but of course that’s not an option. I even manage to type my last name wrong every other try — but hey, that’s what autocorrexct is zthere for.

On my private Mac, I’m so glad I can just unlock with my fingerprint. I’ve rarely locked myself out there – and in the worst case, I can always reset with my Apple ID.

But I’ll stick with my conclusion: passwords suck. They only become bearable with a decent password manager.
